Bad news for those hoping for a snow day -- Natrona County schools are open Thursday.

"Our dedicated maintenance, custodial and transportation teams are working hard to make sure when that first bell rings this morning, students can walk through the doors ready to learn," Natrona County School District spokeswoman Tanya Southerland announced early Thursday.

Still, Southerland said, the responsibility for a child's health lies with the parent or guardian, as does ensuring school attendance.

"Grab your coats, gloves and hats... stay safe, drive slow... and we will see you at school," Southerland added.

The National Weather Service is warning of slick roads with black ice in Natrona and Johnson counties this morning.

Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance to reduce the risk of an accident and leave themselves extra travel time.

Additional snow accumulation Thursday for Casper is expected to be an inch or less.
