The City of Casper issued a reminder to residents on Monday that it is against city code to shovel or otherwise push snow into the street or gutter.

In a press release, code enforcement manager Craig Collins said shoveling snow into the streets can be a safety issue. In some cases, first-responders have been delayed getting to a call until a snowplow could clear the road.

Instead of pushing snow into the roadway or gutter, residents should deposit it onto their property where it is not blocking sidewalks.

Collins said city code enforcement officers may issue notices of violation for non-compliance. Fines may even be assessed.
