Casper’s First Ever DJ Competition [VIDEO, PHOTOS]
The first ever DJ battle in Casper happened last Saturday night (December 16th, 2017). The Oil City Battle of the DJs featured DJ T-O, DJ Whyte Choc, DJ Nyke and MC Viruz, with only one getting the bragging rights of being called Casper's Best DJ for 2017.
A hip-hop concert preceded the battle with performances from local artist Micheal Ruiz, rappers from Casper/Denver-based crew RhymeSick and the fire breathing antics of Oil City's resident stuntman, Levi Troutman a.k.a. The Kamikaze Kid. The entire event was emcee-ed by Big Murda with music from relative newcomer DJ Harpo, who showed his skills on the 1s and 2s.
DJ T-O started of the battle with awesome mixes that included some pretty trippy Hip-Hop renditions of NSync and the Backstreet Boys. MC Viruz was next, with a set that included old school classics, coupled with crazy and outlandish body scratching techniques that the Cowboy State has probably never seen before. DJ Whyte Choc came next with a techno/house-induced routine that included local rapper Twitch coming out the crowd and bum-rushing the stage to a Superman theme. Last but not least, DJ Nyke brought his brand of east coast styled beat juggling and scratching that's reminiscent of the 2Pac classic movie Juice.
Although all of the 307 DJs brought the thunder, only one could be victorious. The winner via crowd response was DJ Whyte Choc.
