Recent pursuits, including last Wednesday's wild chase involving a Greeley, Colo. man who made national headlines after allegedly urinating on Old Faithful, have Cheyenne police once again calling for stricter eluding laws.

Gabriel Villalva was arrested on Sept. 19 after leading police on a 15-minute chase which ended with his SUV catching fire.

During the pursuit, Villalva reportedly swerved towards an officer who was attempting to deploy tire spikes, crashed into a patrol car and drove onto the Cheyenne Country Club golf course, significantly damaging the putting green.

"We have this person engaging in this very dangerous behavior, putting the public at risk, and in the state of Wyoming eluding the police is only a misdemeanor," said Officer Kevin Malatesta.

Villalva was charged with interference with a peace officer-injury, reckless driving and eluding. He was scheduled to be in court Friday morning, but proceedings were suspended for an evaluation.
