2 Confirmed Tornadoes Touch Down in SE Wyoming [VIDEO]
A pair of tornadoes touched down in southeastern Wyoming Thursday evening, the National Weather Service in Cheyenne has confirmed.
They were produced by a single storm system. No immediate reports of damage or injuries were received, Gerry Claycomb of the NWS told K2 Radio News in a phone interview.
The first tornado touched down at 4:45 p.m. well west of Chugwater, about 13 miles north-northeast of Iron Mountain.
The second tornado was reported at roughly 5:15 p.m. in the area of milepost 50 of Interstate 25.
Reed Timmer, an extreme meteorologist for AccuWeather, captured video of what seems to have been the second tornado.
Claycomb said it was too early to rate the size and strength of the tornadoes.
Six counties in southeast Wyoming remain under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. Thursday.
Tornado warnings had been issued Thursday for parts of Platte and Albany counties, Natrona County, and Washakie and Johnson counties.
