The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Natrona County to be in effect from 2:00 a.m. Saturday until 5:00 a.m. Sunday.

Weather Service meteorologists say a storm system coming on the west coast will spread snow into Northwest Wyoming late Thursday through Friday. This storm system
will then dig into the Southern Great Basin Friday night into Saturday. Snow will develop across Central Wyoming late Friday night and continue through Saturday night. Significant snowfall is expected across portions of these areas the next couple days.

Heavy snow is possible over the Natrona County lower elevations, with possible accumulations of six to nine inches.  Plan on difficult travel conditions, and significant reductions in visibility are possible. They say travel on interstate 25 and along highway 20/26 may be severely hampered Saturday into Saturday night.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
